Jay at Pop!Tech

Sandy Haviland and I drove from Boston this morning to meet up with Jay and Alena in Camden Maine .Lunch was at Chappys. Lobster and blueberry pie. Jays presentation stirred the audience. The political debate is about getting more Americans insured. Jay is making waves by explaining that the real problem is in improving the business model for primary care docs.

We have had a very successful launch of hellohealth in Williamsburg over the last 7 weeks. We have worked the kinks out of our care delivery, clinic and software platform .Our subscribers love the simplicity of the service and how it fits so nicely into their daily online lives. Hellohealth doctors Khozin, Corrigan , Parkinson and DeGood are smiling from ear to ear. We’re right on budget and plan! Now it is time to kick off our phase one marketing effort. It is a brilliant program designed by Alena , Peter, Ben and Jay. Rita is smiling because she knows she has the hottest marketing squad in NYC. You will see much more about this over the next few weeks right here.

Team Building

Thursday, October 2nd, 2008

Introducing you to one of the most amazing teams in health care. Jay is the visionary and the artist. Rita the seasoned business woman bubbling with energy. She gets things done. They’ve been working on building their relationship and boundaries of ownership, responsibilities and objectives for a few weeks now. I saw something magical happen yesterday and even more of it today. All of the sudden they were on the same page . You know that feeling when you see two complimentary forces team up? When 1 plus 1=3? When you know that this team has just gelled for a championship season and run at the playoffs? BTW: Thats “Buddy” Jay’s hound in the foreground. He likes to hang out at the hello health corporate office in Williamsburg.

Building a brand

Thursday, October 2nd, 2008

I’m in New York tonight. I’m so fortunate my dearest friends Andy and M.C.( Founders of Crocs ) let me use their pad. It is very midtown and very comfortable! While working for Cardinal I traveled almost all the time. One of my favorite places to get a meal was Houstons. I tried them in New York tonight with Sandy Haviland. I’m amazed at their consistency of great staff and always delicious food. Wondering how does a company build and maintain this over more than 40 locations. The founder has a web cam in every dining room. He surveys his operation from a central location. If he spots something he phones the local manager immediately. They have a very intense training program . The staff take a profile test for attitude and aptitude before they can be interviewed. Bottom line great people love to work with great people. The manager(Kelly-really an amazingly beautiful gal) was proud to tell us the core values:

Team play

Positive mental attitude

Professionalism

Aim to please

We’re going to work hard to build our hellohealth brand.
